...New AVIATION...

.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 1221 AM CDT Mon Jun 29 2026

- Dangerous heat and humidity will settle in Monday through late
  this week (and possibly into the weekend). An Extreme Heat
  Warning is in effect Monday through Thursday for Middle
  Tennessee west of the Cumberland Plateau.

- Look for high temperatures this week in the mid to upper 90s
  across the warning area, with afternoon heat index values as hot
  as 110. Overnight lows will also remain uncomfortably warm,
  only falling into the mid to upper 70s most areas.

- Low chances for rain and storms will emerge later in the week.

&&

.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight through Tuesday Night)
Issued at 1035 PM CDT Sun Jun 28 2026

High pressure has set up both at the surface and aloft, and
widespread subsidence will impact Middle Tennessee throughout the
upcoming week in the form of excessively high heat and humidity
levels. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Middle Tennessee
west of the Cumberland Plateau through Thursday, as heat index
values will top out at 105 to 110 degrees across a wide swath of
the mid state every day.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday through next Monday)
Issued at 1035 PM CDT Sun Jun 28 2026

There will be no appreciable abatement in the heat and humidity
throughout the 7-day forecast. Temperatures and heat indices may
back off slightly by the weekend, but additional heat advisories
may still be needed. Look for mainly low rain and storm chances to
develop later this week, owing primarily to instability generated
by surface heating. There are slightly better rain and storm
chances next weekend, possibly owing to an upper trough passage,
but QPF totals from Monday through next Sunday night are below
1/2" for all of Middle Tennessee except for some parts of the
Cumberland Plateau. Indeed, the primary focus with this forecast
is the heat. No other hazardous weather is anticipated at this
time.

&&

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1221 AM CDT Mon Jun 29 2026

High pressure is going to remain the dominant weather feature
affecting Middle Tennessee on Monday. With the exception of
possible MVFR fog early this morning at KCSV and KSRB, the TAFs
are VFR. Winds will remain generally light/calm thru the TAF
period.
