.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1037 PM MDT Tue Jun 10 2025

Low pressure system that brought active weather on Tuesday will
mosey into central TX Wednesday. The Borderland will remain
somewhat ensnared by the low`s influence as its western periphery
remains on the edge of far west TX. With modest moisture still in
place, the lackluster forcing from the back end of the low will
lead to isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms in the
afternoon. Gusty winds will be the primary hazard.

Shortwave ridging will take hold as the low ejects towards the MS
Valley and a massive Pacific high edges towards the west coast. The
rising pressure heights will see a warmup on Thursday, with the
lowland deserts and portions of the RGV reaching towards the
century mark once again. Meager moisture will remain in place,
which may give rise to a storm or two firing off the high terrain
of Otero and Hudspeth counties in the afternoon. The large high
begins to meander towards the Baja on Friday, allowing for
pressure heights to rise even further. This will set the stage for
a warming trend starting Friday and lasting through the weekend.
By Sunday the high reaches 597dam, centering squarely over the
Bootheel. While this will put a majority of the Borderland in a
regime of weak northerly flow aloft, oppressive heat will still be
on the menu-- the spice level of which is still somewhat
uncertain. On the mild side, Heat Advisories will likely be needed
at the very least. Should the NBM 75th have its way, a few
locales will be in spitting distance of Excessive Heat Warnings.

The high retrogrades back towards the Baja on Monday, offering some
relief to the heat. Afternoon highs will see a degree or two
reduction compared to Sunday`s readings. Pressure heights will fall
even more on Tuesday, with temperature reductions of 2F to 5F being
seen areawide.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1037 PM MDT Tue Jun 10 2025

A few lingering shwrs are migrating across portions of swrn NM
this evening. In addition, a few rogue outflow boundaries are
pushing wwd and may result in some light wind shifts early in the
TAF period. Activity will continue to diminish into the overnight
period, leading to light and VRB winds with SCT to BKN skies.
Isold to widely sct shwrs/tstms will return in the aftn. Brief and
lcl MVFR/IFR cigs/vsbys will be possible with any direct hits to
terminals.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 1030 AM MDT Tue Jun 10 2025

Meager moisture and weak disturbance will foster scattered to
widespread showers and thunderstorms this afternoon with gusty to
damaging winds the main concern. Given the large temperature-
dewpoint spread, leading min RH values in the teens and 20s, there
will be a modest dry lightning risk, primarily over the lowlands
as well. Winds outside of storms will be light. We will see
additional showers and thunderstorms again on Wednesday, but
lesser moisture and less upper-level support will reduce coverage.
By Thursday, lasting into early next week, we will enter a very
hot and dry pattern though model guidance disagrees on how dry it
will be come. Either way, winds will be light, but the "wetter"
guidance indicates a low risk for showers and thunderstorms on
Friday. Venting will range good to very good today and tomorrow
with very good to excellent the rest of the period.
