Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Reno NV
214 AM PDT Mon Jun 2 2025
.KEY MESSAGES...
* Warm temperatures and light afternoon breezes expected this
week. Poor overnight humidity recovery for the Basin and Range.
* Dry for most areas except for areas of showers and isolated
thunderstorms along the E.Sierra mainly in Mono County.
* Increasing chances for another heat up this weekend.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
Northerly wind gusts of 30-40 mph continue this morning along
portions of N.Washoe and Pershing counties as a healthy surface
gradient remains in the wake of our recent frontal passage. North
winds will persist today but will ease through the day.
While temperatures will be cooler in comparison to last weekend,
they will stay remain 5-10 degrees above season averages with mid
to upper 80s for W.Nevada valleys with mid to upper 70s for Sierra
valleys. However, another heat up is expected towards next
weekend as highs may return into the lower 90s across W.Nevada.
Most areas will also remain dry this week with the exception of
portions of the E.Sierra from Alpine into Mono counties. These
areas will see a 20-40% chance of afternoon showers with a 10-15%
chance of an isolated thunderstorm. A few of these showers and
isolated storms could migrate into Mineral county as outflows
propagate eastward.
Otherwise expect dry conditions for most other areas with poor
overnight humidities (<30%) continuing across portions of the
W.Nevada Basin and Range. Areas along the Sierra Front could see
marginal recoveries of 30-40%. Fuentes
&&
.AVIATION...
VFR conditions will prevail for most Sierra and W.Nevada terminals
with dry conditions and northerly breezes prevailing. KMMH could
see a 40% of showers this afternoon along with a 15% of isolated
thunderstorms after 21z. Mountain top obscurations and MVFR
conditions are possible near any shower or storm activity. Fuentes
