.KEY MESSAGES...

  - A brief cool down is expected early next week as dry weather
    returns.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 106 AM CDT Sun Apr 5 2026

Through this week: Rain shower activity is expected to diminish
early this morning as drier air moves in behind the front. Drier air
will be reinforced in the wake of the front through about mid week.
This will lead to cooler overnight lows and slightly cooler highs
through Monday night. Temperatures will recover to normal or
slightly above by Tuesday and gradually warm thereafter. A weak
shortwave Wednesday could bring a brief shower into southern
portions of the area, but most areas should remain dry. The pattern
remains quite ridge dominant through the remainder of the week with
easterly flow around the surface high and southwest to west flow
aloft. This has placed our area under greater influence of high
pressure and therefore rain chances have decreased for this weekend.
There still remains a slight chance for rain in the northwest this
weekend, but this appears slim and appears to be trending downward.
