.MESOSCALE UPDATE...
Issued at 513 AM CST Mon Dec 22 2025
This Morning...Based upon local observations and area traffic
cameras, I`ve hoisted a "Dense Fog Advisory" for portions of East
Central Louisiana and Southwest, South Central, and Southeast
Mississippi until 9 AM today. Visibility in these areas could fall
to one quarter of a mile or less where dense fog is observed. Fog
will begin to erode this morning after sunrise, when daytime
heating ensues. /19/

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 124 AM CST Mon Dec 22 2025
Today through Sunday...The frontal boundary that sank south through
the forecast area Sunday, now resides along the north central gulf
coast this morning. Despite this boundary being south of the area,
little to no appreciable airmass change has, or will, occur across
the region as it "washes out" through the day. This will allow for
moisture, along with warm conditions, to remain across the region
through the forecast period. This is as a result of high pressure
at the surface becoming wedged into the Lower Mississippi Valley
from the east and quasi-zonal flow aloft generally remaining across
the area through much of the period, with ridging aloft building in
late in the work week.
For today, isentropic upglide across the region will continue to
yield an abundance of cloud cover, along with isolated to very
scattered light showers across the forecast area this morning into
the afternoon hours. Fortunately though, the day will not be a
complete washout by any means, as much of the CWA looks to remain
dry. Locations that do see rainfall will only see very light
amounts as totals remain less than a tenth of an inch.
The aforementioned surface high will strengthen across the region
from the east on Tuesday, and will remain a fixture across the
region through the Christmas holidays and into the final weekend of
2025. This will bring an end to rain chances through much of the
remainder of the forecast period, but it`ll bring about the warmth
across the CWA in the process. Well above normal conditions will
exist across the entire forecast area during this time. Temperatures
overall will be some 10-20 degrees warmer than their norm for this
time of year. Daytime highs will top out in the low to upper 70s
through Saturday, with unseasonably mild lows as they only fall into
the 50s to around 60.
A return to colder conditions, along with an increase in rain
chances, currently looks to be on the horizon come Sunday. This is
when a cold front is advertised to move into and through the
forecast area. /19/

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 542 AM CST Mon Dec 22 2025
Low stratus deck is causing widespread IFR to MVFR ceilings to
start the period, with some areas of FG in far southern parts of
our forecast area. Lowest ceilings should drift northward during
the day. Some recovery into VFR ceilings is possible, but most
sites to hold onto MVFR or lower ceilings through the period. /NF/
