  but there are low odds of storms near the Oregon border on
  Monday.

.DISCUSSION...

Windy conditions once again develop this afternoon with strongest
gusts of 30-40 mph overspreading northeast California and western
Nevada. Gusty SW/W winds today will prevail over a longer duration
compared to recent days, resulting in a more extended period of wind
impacts to travel, recreation, and fire interests (more details in
the fire weather discussion) this afternoon. Be prepared for bumpy
flights, gusty crosswinds when driving along roadways prone to
locally stronger west winds (e.g., US-395 near Honey Lake, I-580
near Washoe Valley, US-50 near Walker Lake), blowing dust in the
Basin and Range, and choppy waters on area lakes. Avoid all
activities that may cause a spark as fire danger will be heightened
this afternoon.

Minimal change in the governing weather pattern will support breezy
afternoon winds and subsequent impacts through at least midweek,
possibly beyond. Dry southwest flow will most likely preclude
showers and storms over the next several days, although blended
guidance offers a 10-15% chance of thunderstorms near the Oregon
border Monday afternoon. Typical June heat will stick around into
early next week with daytime highs in the 70s to low 80s for Sierra
communities and 80s to low 90s for western Nevada valleys.

.AVIATION...

Gusty SW/W winds will develop this afternoon with surface gusts
reaching 25-35 kts periodically. Low-end impacts from LLWS and
mountain wave turbulence will be possible this evening into
Saturday morning as FL100 flow of 20-30 kts couples with light
surface winds. Otherwise, widespread VFR conditions will prevail
through the weekend.

.FIRE WEATHER...

A Red Flag Warning goes into effect today for eastern Lassen County
and much of western Nevada where a 3-6 hour period of critical fire
weather conditions will unfold this afternoon. The forecast remains
on track for sustained SW/W winds of 15-25 mph with gusts of 35-40
mph to overspread RH reductions to 7-12% this afternoon within the
Red Flag Warning area. Winds will likely subside between 2100-2300
hours tonight, mitigating the fire weather threat somewhat. However,
poor nighttime recoveries (40% or less) may impact any existing
ignitions during the overnight hours tonight.

Breezy winds will continue to overlap very low RH each afternoon
across western Nevada, maintaining elevated to locally critical
conditions through at least early next week. Overnight recoveries
will remain poor in this time as RH struggles to exceed 40% each
night. Sunday and Monday stand out as candidates for more widespread
critical conditions as winds increase and may warrant additional
fire products if trends hold steady or increase.
