.KEY MESSAGES...
1. There is a 40 to 70 percent chance of a tenth of an inch of
rain or more between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning for
most of the San Joaquin Valley north of Kern County. Chances are
25 to 35 percent for Kern County.

2. There is a 40 to 70 percent probability of 2 inches of snow
or more above 7000 feet between Monday afternoon and Tuesday
morning, with the highest chances in Yosemite National Park.

3. A 45 to 70 percent chance for gusts at least 45 mph exists
in eastern Kern County along the Mojave Desert Slopes Monday
night into Tuesday morning. A Wind Advisory was issued from 9 PM
PST Monday until 7 AM PST Tuesday.

4. After a midweek warmup, another system arrives late this
week with cool, unsettled conditions through next weekend.

.DISCUSSION...
Veteran`s Day will be dominated by a trough sliding through the
area and ushering in some precipitation then wind. That trough
will dig south as it comes on shore, with the majority of the
vorticity advection remaining offshore. However, the front will
slide into the area providing enough dynamics for precipitation.

Guidance has consistently shown valley rain and mountain snow
with this system edging in late afternoon Monday and peaking
around 6 to 9 pm. Things will taper off late in the evening with
only lingering showers expected on Tuesday as the trough exits.

Of course, that won`t be before winds kick up along the lee of
the Tehachapi Range Tuesday Morning. A wind advisory is in
effect for the lee slopes on Tuesday morning hours.

As the trough exits dry northwest flow sets in for a couple of
days before the next trough digs into the region late week.
While a fairly similar set up with the second trough, it does
look a little stronger.

While all ensembles are pointing to the latter trough, there
remains some differences in timing and deep as it comes on
shore. The lion`s share of the guidance does push it through
fairly quickly similar to Monday`s but 17% of ensembles has it
dragging its heals with a bit stronger ridging over the Great
Basin.

Nevertheless, another round of precipitation and winds are
coming this way later this week. And there are hints this
pattern of progressive troughs may continue into next week.
