.UPDATE...
Aviation Section.
&&
.KEY MESSAGES...
1. Dry weather will prevail through the upcoming weekend.
2. Temperatures will increase above normal Wednesday through
Friday with afternoon highs approaching 15 degrees above average
on Thursday.
3. Strong wind gusts are favorable to return to the Mojave
Desert Slopes again Friday and Saturday.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
Dry conditions with above average temperatures will continue
today due to a high pressure centered over central California.
The ridge is expected to strengthen for Thursday, with afternoon
highs across the region warming up to fifteen degrees above
normal for this time of year. A weak upper level trough is
favorable to pass through the Pacific northwest into the
weekend, eroding the ridge somewhat and setting up a slight
cooling trend for central California. However, afternoon maximum
temperatures on Saturday are still expected in the upper 70s to
low 80s in the San Joaquin Valley, which is five to ten degrees
above normal for this time of year. This system does have a
minor chance for measurable precipitation, mainly in the Sierra
Nevada, though NBM probabilities give less than a 10 percent
chance of 72 hour precipitation greater than 0.01 inches through
5 AM PDT Monday, April 14th. In addition, the trough has a
moderate chance (50 to 70 percent) to cause wind gusts to exceed
50 miles per hour in the Mojave Desert Slopes Friday and
Saturday.
Here are the probabilities to exceed 80 degrees for select
locations of the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra foothills each
day through next Tuesday.
