.KEY MESSAGES...
* A warming trend with dry conditions and lighter winds continues
today.
* Highs Thursday and Friday reach the lower 80s across some
western NV valleys and may approach record levels.
* The next weather system moves into the west coast Friday and
Saturday with the return of gusty winds and cooler temperatures.

.DISCUSSION...
Zonal flow today will give way to a high pressure centered over
the Western United States. This is bringing our warming trend this
week, with high temperatures more characteristic of middle to
late May across the area Thursday and Friday. Thursday looks to be
the warmest day with highs in the 80s across W NV and mid 60s to
low 70s for Sierra communities. As of now, there is an 86% chance
for the high to exceed 80 in Reno on Thursday.
Light winds can be expected this week through late Thursday. A low
pressure skirts by to our north Friday and Saturday, bringing
elevated winds and a 15-25% chance for light showers along the OR
border and into NE CA. Expect wind gusts up to 40 mph both days,
with Saturday looking to be the windiest day.
Long range guidance shows another high pressure system setting
up, initiating another warming trend. The Climate Prediction
Center has much of our area in "above normal" temperatures and
"below normal" precipitation for the middle of April. With no
strong storms on the horizon, spring looks like it`s here to stay.

.AVIATION...
VFR conditions through the majority of this week with breezy
afternoon winds each day. However, gusts will cap out at 20-25 kts
each day this week across all terminals. Winds increase Friday and
Saturday due to a brief weather system passing by to our north.
High temperatures approach record levels Thursday and Friday for W
NV valleys, bringing abnormally high density altitudes for early
April. -Giralte
