Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Francisco CA
448 AM PDT Mon Apr 7 2025

...New AVIATION, BEACHES...

.SYNOPSIS...
Issued at 338 AM PDT Mon Apr 7 2025

Light rain early today should taper off by mid-morning with
lingering clouds and cooler temperatures. Hazardous beach conditions
persist through late tonight. Warmer temperatures with minor
HeatRisk return Tuesday for the remainder of the work week.

&&

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 338 AM PDT Mon Apr 7 2025

Light rain will continue through sunrise across the North Bay and
eventually taper off by mid morning as a weak cold front moves
east across our area today. Clouds and cooler air today will
briefly interrupt the warmup we saw over the weekend. Temperatures
today will hover around normal, slightly warmer for some spots in
our inland valley areas. Zonal flow aloft aloft will be
established tonight with lows mostly in the mid/upper 40s. Long
period northwest swell will continue to pose a risk for sneaker
waves and riptides through late tonight.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Sunday)
Issued at 338 AM PDT Mon Apr 7 2025

Zonal flow aloft will amplify into broader ridging beginning
tomorrow as temperatures climb above normal for the remainder of the
work week. The warmest days will be Wednesday and Thursday with many
inland Bay Area and Central Coast locations reaching 80 or higher.
The upper ridging shifts east by the weekend when an upper level
trough develops and moves inland well to our to our north. The
trough looks to become positively tilted as it reaches the west
coast and the strongest energy associated with the system will be
too far north for any meaningful precipitation if we see any at
all.

&&

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 448 AM PDT Mon Apr 7 2025

A weak cold front will result in MVFR-IFR conditions, including
areas of light rain and/or light drizzle. Conditions will gradually
improve today behind the front, but overcast skies are likely to
remain through the day. Expect MVFR-IFR conditions tonight and
Tuesday morning.

Vicinity of SFO...MVFR-IFR this morning, conditions improving to
MVFR-VFR by late morning and afternoon. Light southeast wind
becoming west 10 to 15 knots today.

SFO Bridge Approach... Similar to SFO.

Monterey Bay Terminals...MVFR-IFR this morning, conditions improving
to MVFR either late morning or early afternoon. MVFR-IFR tonight
and Tuesday morning.

&&

.MARINE...
(Today through Saturday)
Issued at 338 AM PDT Mon Apr 7 2025

Moderate height, long period swell from the WNW will continue
across the coastal waters. Winds will remain gentle to moderate
while shifting from SW to NW as a weak cold front moves through
this morning. The long period swell will gradually abate through
mid-week before stronger NW winds arrive next weekend.

&&

.BEACHES...
Issued at 418 AM PDT Mon Apr 7 2025

A Beach Hazard Statement remains in effect for the entire
coastline. Sneaker waves will be the main threat before switching
to larger shore break and rip currents. Beachgoers should be
mindful today given potential hazards. Beachgoers should stay off
of jetties and rocks, keep pets on a leash, wear a life jacket,
and never turn your back on the ocean!
