.KEY MESSAGES...
* Dry conditions are likely through the weekend before moisture may
increase early next week.
* Haze is possible today and Wednesday as south winds push elevated
smoke in from fires in the Baja Peninsula.
* Below-normal temperatures are expected through Wednesday before
rising to near normal and then above normal later in the week.

.DISCUSSION...Today through Early Next Week.
Satellite through the morning showed an upper level trough lifting
into central Nevada. All overnight precipitation has diminished and
it was dry across the region. Other than some very isolated, low
impact showers on the Sierra crest this afternoon, dry conditions
will prevail the rest of the week as the trough continues to lift
out and ridging builds back in to replace it. Long range ensembles
are in decent agreement that high pressure will build northwest and
set up over the Four Corners region by Sunday. As this is happening,
the next upper level system will shift into the West Coast. Numerous
Ensemble meteograms members show increasing PWATs and there is a low
probability (10%-30%) for over 1.00 inch PWAT in areas south of the
I-15 Sunday or early next week. How this moisture interacts with the
trough sitting somewhere along the West Coast could result in
showers and thunderstorms early next week, however it`s too early to
determine precipitation chances (if at all) or impacts.
Smoke from fires in the Baja Peninsula will be pushed north on south
winds today and Wednesday. The HRRR shows areas of smoke advecting
into the Colorado River Valley, southern Nevada, and Mohave County
at times, however suggests it will mostly be elevated as near
surface smoke (versus vertically integrated smoke) is very low. HREF
shows a no probabilities for reduced visibilities, so most likely
will periods of haze at times today and Tuesday and not significant
surface smoke or impacts.
As ridging builds into the region this week, temperatures will warm.
Temperatures will warm to near normal on Thursday, then above normal
Friday through the weekend. After Minor Hear Risk much of the week,
widespread Moderate Heat Risk and isolated Major Heat Risk returns
for Saturday through Monday. Anyone with outdoor plans this weekend
should be prepared for much warmer temperatures than current levels
and take heat precautions such as drinking extra water and adjusting
plan to cooler parts of the day. As moisture is potentially
introduced early next week, a large spread in temperatures is noted
on ensembles Monday onward.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast Package...South-
southeast winds will continue through the late afternoon before
winds diminish after sunset at all the valley TAF sites. Occasional
guts to around 15KT are possible through about 00Z. Winds will be
light and follow typical wind patterns overnight. LAS will see their
usually south-southwest wind at 8KT or less, becoming variable by
Wednesday morning. Light winds will continue through Wednesday
afternoon following normal daytime directional patterns. FEW-SCT
clouds around 15kft are expected this afternoon which will clear
tonight. Haze is possible at times through Wednesday due to smoke,
however surface smoke and visibility reductions are not expected.
For the rest of southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona and
southeastern California...For the 00Z Forecast Package...South to
southeast winds continue through the afternoon, with occasionally
gusts to around 20KT. Winds will then diminish after sunset. The
exception will be KDAG, where directions will see west winds push in
around 00Z with gusts to over 20KT expected through the first part
of the night. Light winds are expected tonight through early
Wednesday morning. Normal light wind patterns will setup Wednesday
afternoon with no widespread gusts expected. VFR conditions should
prevail across the region through the TAF period. Haze from regional
wildfires may result in reduced slantwise visibilities today and
Wednesday across the Mojave Desert.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
