.DISCUSSION...
Warm temperatures continue today, however, winds increase this
afternoon as a large trough begins to slide in. The combination
of the high temperatures, low humidity, and increasing winds
brings an elevated fire risk for the West Side Hills today into
Friday. However, winds will greatly pick up in Eastern Kern
County as a High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory is in effect
until 2 AM Sunday.

Friday brings some cooler temperatures but still gusty winds. A
Red Flag Warning has been issued for the Mojave Slopes and
Desert from 8 AM to 11 PM Friday and for the Indian Wells
Valley from 8 AM Friday to 2 AM Saturday due to low humidities,
hot temperatures, sustained winds of at least 25 mph, and
moderate risk of fires.

The cooler temperatures continue on Saturday and Sunday with
highs in the 80s in the Valley. The minimum humidities will
improve thanks to the cooler temperatures. However, winds will
pick up again on Saturday bringing a chance of another round of
an Elevated Fire risk. Temperatures warm up a tad on Monday and
into next week but with calmer winds.
