Issued 3:00 AM NST 4 March 2026 Today Tonight and Thursday At 3:00 a.m. NST today trough located on a line northeast-southwest
over Belle Isle Bank.
By 10:00 a.m. NST today dissipating trough located east of Funk
Island Bank.
At 3:00 a.m. NST today deepening low 1018 mb located over the Gulf
of Maine.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Thursday low 988 mb located east of Belle Isle
Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:55 AM NST 4 March 2026 A trough of low pressure over Belle Isle Bank will move east of the
district this morning and dissipate. Gale force westerlies to
southwesterlies over northern waters ahead of the trough will
diminish in its wake.
Meanwhile, a low pressure system over the Gulf of Maine will
intensify rapidly as it tracks northeastward across Eastern
Newfoundland this afternoon and then moves northeast of the district
tonight. Gale to storm force south to southwesterlies will quickly
develop over southeastern waters this afternoon ahead of the low.
Strong to gale force west to northwesterlies can be expected over all
waters in the wake of the low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south, and the Grand
Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except
Strait of Belle Isle.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the Southern Grand Banks.
