.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 130 PM CDT Tue Jun 10 2025

As of 130 PM Tuesday afternoon, broad northwest midlevel flow
remains across central and northern Plains. A remnant MCV/weak
midlevel low continues to reside across northern TX. This feature is
contributing to scattered mid/high level clouds across southern KS.
Otherwise, an area of surface high pressure slid east overnight and
now resides across central MO. A gradual return of southerly low-
level flow has been noted across the Plains. This has allowed dew
points to surge into the 60s across southern KS. Short range mixing
heights are progged to exceed 800 mb, which will translate to high
temperature sin the low to mid 90s. With convective temps very near
the high temperatures, a stray shower or storm cannot be entirely
ruled out from 4-8 PM today.

Transitioning into tonight, the aforementioned MCV/midlevel low
will remain nearly stationary across north TX with the best
shower/storm chances remaining south of KS. Overnight lows will
reach the mid 60s area-wide. A northern stream shortwave trough
will eject into the northern Plains Wednesday with a gradual
increase in the surface pressure gradient. Southerly winds will
gust up to 30 mph Wednesday afternoon with the strongest across
central KS. By Thursday, the midlevel low will move northeast
into eastern OK. Strong surface heating will result in little,
if any, mixed layer inhibition remaining by afternoon. Showers
and storms are possible as the weak midlevel ascent overspreads
southern/southeast KS. Effective shear will remain less than 20
kt which will temper any potential for severe storms. A similar
scenario may play out Friday afternoon with additional
shower/storm chances as the midlevel low slowly migrates into
the Ozarks.

Transitioning into the weekend, a southwest US ridge axis will
amplify with northwest flow becoming established across KS.
Nocturnal convection is possible Saturday night/Sunday morning and
Sunday night/Monday morning. By early next week, the ridge axis will
move east as a western CONUS trough digs into the southern Rockies.
This will set the stage for additional rain chances early next week.
