National Weather Service Boise ID

.UPDATE...Updated aviation discussion.
&&
.KEY MESSAGES...
- Temperatures warming to near normal Monday.
- Widespread showers late Monday night through Tuesday morning,
a slight chance of thunderstorms Tuesday.
- Warming and drying Thursday through Saturday.
&&
.SHORT TERM /Through Tuesday Night/...
Issued 231 PM MDT SUN JUN 7 2026
A cool upper level trough will continue to track across MT this
evening and breezy northwest winds subside after sunset. After a
lull tonight, the next system arrives Monday afternoon across
eastern Oregon, with increasing clouds and showers developing in
the afternoon. Showers will increase across the area on Monday
night into Tuesday morning. A slight chance of thunderstorms on
Tuesday as cool unstable air moves overhead. The bulk of the
system will remain north of McCall to Baker City, so
precipitation amounts continue to trend downward. Precipitation
amounts will be 0.25 to 0.75 inch across the mountains with up
to 0.25 inch in the valleys. Snow levels will be 7500-8500 feet
with this system. Temperatures warm to near normal on Monday and
lower to below normal on Tuesday.
&&
.LONG TERM /Wednesday through Sunday/...
Issued 231 PM MDT SUN JUN 7 2026
There is strong agreement amongst both the deterministic and
ensemble models in the extended forecast. Current projections
are favoring a pattern with a broad ridge camping off-shore
over the eastern Pacific and west to northwest flow in place
over the northern Rockies. This pattern would allow for a slow
warming and drying trend for eastern Oregon and southwest Idaho.
The details are still be be seen, but there appears to be a
lack of significant system or moisture to move through the flow
into next weekend to deviate from this trend. Expect highs to
climb to 3-5 degrees above normal. This pattern would favor
afternoon breezy conditions in wind prone areas as well.
&&
