.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Sunday)
Issued at 133 AM EST Sat Dec 20 2025
After a textbook setup for radiational cooling overnight, residents
of north and central Georgia will be waking up to temps in the
upper 20s to low 30s Saturday morning, which will be the coolest
temps that will be felt for at least the next 7 days (more on that
in the long term section). Overall, it will be a very pleasant
Saturday across the area, as high pressure over the Southeast US
will slide further off to the east today, allowing winds to turn
southerly and start to usher in a warmer airmass from over the
Gulf. High temps this afternoon will climb into the upper 50s to
low 60s in north GA, and low to mid 60s in central GA. Another
good setup for cooling temps overnight, but the warmer airmass
will mitigate things a bit, keeping lows in the upper 30s to low
40s.
By early Sunday morning, a weak and relatively dry frontal
boundary associated with a system over the Great Lakes will start
to push through north GA. Recent trends in guidance have had a bit
more moisture with this front, but only enough to bring cloud
cover and slight rain chances to the western half of north and
central GA for the morning hours. By Sunday afternoon, the front
will have passed through most of the region, with dry air
filtering in behind it, leading to mostly clear skies and high
temperatures in the low to mid 60s.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through Friday)
Issued at 133 AM EST Sat Dec 20 2025
As the long term forecast picks up a relatively impressive ridge
establishes itself across the southeast setting us up for plenty of
dry weather. In fact, neither the Euro or the GFS have any
meaningful precip for our CWA through the rest of the run. As the
ridge builds through the weekend and into next week, temperatures
will gradually climb with it. By the time Christmas day rolls
around, we`re expecting temperatures across the region to be in the
low to mid 70s which is around 20 degrees higher than what we`d
expect this time of year.
Overnight lows will continue to improve through the weekend and into
next week as well. Overnight lows for Monday and Tuesday will drop
to around freezing, but after that we`re expecting lows to be
limited to the 40s and 50s for the remainder of the week. If you`re
looking for a white Christmas, you might want to try Minnesota.
