.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 221 AM EST Sat Dec 6 2025

    - Rainfall totals in the 0.10 to 0.40 inch range are expected
      in central Georgia today.

    - Widespread hazardous weather is not expected northern or
central Georgia through the upcoming workweek.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Sunday)
Issued at 221 AM EST Sat Dec 6 2025

Rain Chances this Weekend:

A deep fetch of subtropical moisture from the Eastern Pacific and
Gulf will continue to stream over Georgia today. The deepest
moisture (PW values of 1.2 to 1.8 inches) will remain over central
and southern Georgia, where it will lead to some rainfall. The
intensity and coverage of the rainfall should peak between noon
and 6 PM as a shortwave slides east from Alabama. Locations along
and south of a line from Columbus to Macon to Louisville should
pick up 0.10 to 0.40 inches of rain during this period. Across
north Georgia no rainfall is anticipated due to less moisture for
the shortwave to interact with. The rainfall in central Georgia
should dissipate this evening as the band of enhanced moisture
moves further south. This will lead to partly cloudy skies in the
region tonight. Additional light rainfall is possible in central
Georgia on Sunday thanks to second shortwave. However the bulk of
the rainfall on Sunday should be limited to northern Florida.

Temperatures Today & Sunday:

Below average temperatures will continue in Georgia today, with
deviations of 8 to 12 degrees in the negative direction anticipated
in central Georgia today. Afternoon rainfall and persistent cloud
cover will be the main drivers of these temperatures. Northern
Georgia should smaller deviations of 2 to 8 degrees. Expect
widespread highs near 50 degrees this afternoon. More sunshine,
will bring some warming on Sunday, when widespread highs in the
mid 50s are forecast.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through Friday)
Issued at 221 AM EST Sat Dec 6 2025

Forecast:

Long term picks up Sunday night where yet another shortwave will be
traversing the area and bringing rain shower chances to the CWA. An
earlier system during the morning and afternoon will have already
tapped into available moisture further south where a 925 mb front is
stalled near the Fl/GA border, so this system may have some
difficulty tapping into any deeper moisture for rainfall. Still,
most guidance has some rain falling in the broad lift ahead of the
shortwave and ahead of a cold front that will be pushing towards the
CWA. Showers will be possible into Monday morning, after which the
cold front pushes in and starts to -finally- dry us out a bit. If
you haven`t picked up the leaves, good luck peeling those things off
the lawn after the past few days.

Monday night will see clearing skies and temperatures fall near
or below freezing for many across north and central Georgia. High
pressure settles into the area for Tuesday, with clear skies and
highs in the upper 40s and 50s. Looks like we warm a bit in the
middle to backside of the week with highs getting into the upper
50s to 60s Wednesday into Thursday. Trough swings by but stays to
the north of the area Wednesday into Thursday, driving deep
surface low over the Great Lakes. Model ensembles continue to
differ a bit on how far south the attendant surface front travels
with that low, and what kind of moisture will be available to it.
Most guidance has been trending away from rainfall chances, but
enough remain to still keep mention of slight chance to chance
showers Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1252 AM EST Sat Dec 6 2025

AGL) will continue in north and central Georgia through around
16Z Saturday. After 16Z conditions will gradually improve from
north to south, with VFR conditions favored for all by 00Z
Sunday. Occasional rain showers will continue in central Georgia
through 23Z today. Winds will remain light (7 kt or less) in the
