.DISCUSSION...
High pressure remains centered aloft over the region this afternoon
while the Atlantic ridge axis extends over the southern Florida
peninsula. This has led to a light southeast flow over southwest
Florida (this morning), transitioning to onshore farther north. A
few showers and storms have popped up along the sea breeze
initiation so far this afternoon, and these will continue to slowly
shift inland through the rest of the afternoon and evening, though
coverage will be rather limited. There are some hints that a few
showers could linger over southwest Florida into the first part of
tonight, but then a quiet overnight period can be expected. Looks
like a pretty similar pattern for Friday, then moisture increases
some for the weekend into Monday, leading to higher rain chances
each day.
What is currently Tropical Storm Erin will continue moving across
the Atlantic, eventually turning northwestward and then northward
early to mid next week before making it to the Bahamas or the U.S.
coast. Impacts to the local area will be minimal, mainly just a wind
shift to the northeast and some relatively drier air for the end of
the forecast period. Still looking at scattered convection each day
though, with warm and humid conditions otherwise.
&&
.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Widely scattered storms continue across the region this afternoon,
but coverage is expected to be too low to warrant any TEMPO groups.
A similar pattern is in place for Friday.
&&
.MARINE...
Light winds will turn onshore with the sea breeze each day,
remaining below headlines. A few showers or storms will be possible
over the Gulf during the late night and early morning hours, then
most activity will shift over land through the rest of each day.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
No fire weather concerns for the next several days as relative
humidity values will remain above critical levels. Warm and humid
summertime conditions will continue, with scattered showers and
thunderstorms each day.
