.KEY MESSAGES...
* Another couple days of below-normal temperatures before the region
warms up through the week.
* Monsoonal moisture increases in Arizona mid-to-late week, with
best chances of precipitation across Mohave County.
&&
.DISCUSSION...Today through Saturday.
Dry southwest flow aloft will continue through the remainder of the
weekend into the start of next week, resulting in persistent breezy
afternoons. In addition to southwest breezes between 15 and 25 mph,
the trough across the western CONUS has allowed heights aloft to
drop, resulting in below-normal temperatures. This trough will
remain situated across the western CONUS, but a ridge of high
pressure across the southern CONUS will begin to retrograde westward
through the work week. The ridge`s westward progression will allow
heights to rise over the Desert Southwest, resulting in at-or-above
normal temperatures returning to the region as soon as Monday.
Although temperatures will rise to slightly above normal, the
HeatRisk will remain at Minor to Moderate through the week.
As the high continues to retrograde west, it will gradually start to
pull some monsoonal moisture up the Colorado River Valley. However,
the aforementioned western CONUS trough will contend with the
ridge`s westward progression, working to prevent moisture from
making it much further west than Arizona. PWATs will increase to
around 0.50" across our far southern zones on Tuesday, surging to
around 1.00" on Thursday in the lower Colorado River Valley. As a
result, slight PoPs (15-30 percent) exist for Mohave County Tuesday
through Saturday. Although gusty outflow winds will likely be the
primary threat, some storms would be capable of producing very heavy
rainfall. Elsewhere, expect dry conditions and mostly sunny skies.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 12Z Forecast Package...Light
winds this morning will gradually veer to the southeast and then
south-southwest this afternoon. Sustained speeds are expected to
be around 10KT, with gusts to 15-20KT. Thermally-induced gusts
will result in some variability in wind direction between
southwest and southeast during peak heating, before winds become
light overnight through the end of the period. VFR conditions
prevail with temperatures expected to reach 100 degrees between
23-02Z.
For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 12Z Forecast Package...Light winds this
morning veer to the south and southwest across most of the region
by this afternoon, with gusts to 15-25KT. The exception will be
across the Western Mojave, including KDAG, where winds will
maintain more of a westerly component and become variable during
the afternoon, with gusts returning during the evening. Winds will
otherwise gradually diminish after sunset, with VFR conditions
prevailing.
&&
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
