Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV
1012 PM PDT Sun Jun 22 2025
.KEY MESSAGES...
* Dry conditions will continue through the end of the week for
southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona, and southeastern
California.
* Warming trend expected through the week, with above normal
temperatures returning by late week.
&&
.DISCUSSION...through next weekend.
Fairly deep trough encompassing most of the Western US is keeping
temperatures seasonably cool today, with high temps this afternoon
expected to top out 10-15 degrees below-normal. This trough will
weaken through midweek with heights gradually rising. Thereafter,
low amplitude ridge will hold across the Southwestern US. With
increasing heights in the coming days, conditions will remain dry
through next weekend with no hints at any monsoonal moisture across
our region yet.
Meanwhile, with rising heights, temperatures will be on a gradual
warming trend, with highs returning to near-normal by midweek, and
climbing above-normal by late-week into next week. Despite the
building ridge and warming temperatures, HeatRisk remains pretty
firmly in the moderate range through early next week, which should
limit the necessity for any heat-related headlines for the time
being.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...
Light and diurnal winds expected through Monday morning. Late-
morning into the early-afternoon, gusty southeast winds will pick up
with speeds around 20 kts. Southeast winds will linger through
sunset, with speeds gradually becoming southwest for the remainder
of the night as gusts subside. Haze from regional wildfires may
result in reduced slantwise visibilities through the day on Monday
from all directions, with a reduction of surface visibilities late-
afternoon.
For the rest of southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona and
southeastern California...For the 06Z Forecast Package... Light and
diurnal winds expected through Monday morning. Breezy south-
southeast winds will set up across the region Monday afternoon with
gust speeds around 20 kts. The exception will be KDAG where west
gusts will continue through the TAF period. Haze from regional
wildfires may result in reduced slantwise visibilities through the
day across the Mojave Desert, with a reduction of surface
visibilities possible for Las Vegas Valley TAF sites late-afternoon.
&&
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
