.DISCUSSION...
It seems like it`s finally starting to look like spring now! We`ve
got high pressure building in today which will bump up our high
temperatures a bit today and Thursday. Temperatures will peak
Thursday in the upper 70`s - low 80`s in western NV and upper 60`s
in Sierra valleys. To put this warm-up into perspective, current
forecasted high temperature for KRNO on Thursday is 80, and the
current record for that site on April 10th is 83, which gives us
about a 20-30% chance of reaching that record. We`ll see an
increase in winds on Thursday as well - some westerly zephyr-like
winds.
After the warmth, temperatures start to slide back down to near
average for this time of year (mid 60`s for western NV and 50`s
for the Sierra) Saturday and Sunday. Well what gives? Why the
drop in temperatures? Well, up in the Pac NW there will be a
trough that deepens and we`re catching the southern edge of that
storm. Just a bit of cooler air being dragged south with that
storm, so that`s why we`re seeing that dip in temps. Concurrently,
we`re going to get some very light rain showers (15-25%) Fri-Sat
from Tahoe northward to the OR border. Right now current CAM and
NBM guidance don`t have much of anything in terms of QPF. Wind-
wise it`ll be breezy Friday and Saturday afternoon, with gusts up
to 45 mph out in the Basin & Range.
After this weekend, we continue to stay dry and high pressure
takes over. Temperatures rise back up again, while mainly light
winds and sunny skies return through at least mid-week.

.AVIATION...
VFR conditions through the rest of this week with lightest winds
today. Afternoon breezes return Thursday with gusts capping out
at 20-25 kts across all terminals. Winds increase Friday and
Saturday due to a weak weather system passing by to our north.
High temperatures approach record levels Thursday and Friday for W
NV valleys, bringing abnormally high density altitudes for early
April. -Giralte/Justin
