.KEY MESSAGES...
* Dry and mild weather continues through next week with periods of
gusty ridgetop winds this weekend.
* A more unsettled weather pattern may emerge around the middle of
the month, but confidence is low.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
A dry and mild weather pattern will remain in place into next week
as the storm track is displaced well to our north. Ridgetop gusts
will increase to 40-60 mph this morning in response to a passing
weak low, but should ease by the afternoon. Otherwise, take
advantage of the pleasant weekend weather!
High pressure overhead will maintain dry weather through next week
with only a 10-20% chance of showers near the Oregon border Tuesday
into Wednesday. The middle to end of next week is slated to be much
warmer than normal -- as much as 15 to 20 degrees above seasonal
norms -- as daytime highs reach the upper 50s to mid 60s regionwide.
In fact, Reno-Tahoe Int`l Airport has a 30-50% chance of setting
record daily highs between Tuesday and Thursday. Lower valley skies
will also likely be hazy in the mornings next week as inversions
strengthen, but should disperse in the afternoons with better
heating.
There continues to be hints of a pattern change around and after the
middle of the month that would be more favorable for winter storms
to impact the region. Whether that comes to fruition is, of course,
yet to be seen, but it`s at least an encouraging signal that we may
get some much needed rain and mountain snow in the coming weeks.

.AVIATION...
High pressure will maintain widespread VFR conditions and light
surface winds through the weekend. N/NW FL100 winds of 25-35 kts may
pose some LLWS/mountain wave turbulence issues through 18Z for Tahoe
and Sierra Front terminals.
