Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Diego CA
933 AM PDT Sun Jul 27 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
A warming trend starts today with highs warming to near or slightly
above average by the middle of next week. Thursday and Friday will
be a few degrees cooler, with minor warming over the upcoming
weekend. Low clouds and fog will reach into portions of the valleys
each night and morning.

&&

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

The marine layer was around 2000 ft deep this morning, with
satellite imagery showing low clouds had reached into the western
valleys overnight. At 9 AM, low clouds were clearing to the coast.
Low clouds are expected to clear the beaches by later this morning,
leaving mostly sunny skies across the area this afternoon. Low
clouds and fog are expected to reach into portions of the valleys
each night and morning through the upcoming week.

Warming trend will start today as high pressure aloft builds in from
the east. Highs today will be 3 to 7 degrees warmer than yesterday,
with most areas warming a few degrees each day through Wednesday.
For Wednesday, NBM chances of the low desert exceeding 110 degrees
are 20 to 30 percent with a 15 to 30 percent chance, locally up to
60 percent, of the Inland Empire reaching or exceeding 100 degrees.

A weak trough of low pressure will move east into Central California
for Thursday and Friday. That will bring a few degrees of cooling
across the area. The subtropical ridge tries to build north into the
southwestern United States for the upcoming weekend, bringing some
warming to the area.

.AVIATION...

around 03-06z Monday with lower bases around 1200-1800 ft MSL.
