...HIGH SURF WARNING NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING...
WHAT...Dangerous surfs of 13 to 17 feet
WHERE...North shores of all islands
WHEN...Through Tuesday morning
IMPACTS...Expect ocean water sweeping across beaches and breaching
coastal walls. Major impacts to coastal properties and infrastructure
are expected, with extreme breaking waves, powerful longshore and
potentially deadly rip currents. Severe coastal erosion is likely.
Extremely large waves will bring ocean debris onto roadways, impact
all harbors, and make navigating the harbor channel exceptionally
dangerous.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Expect significant coastal flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
Roads may be washed out and become impassable. Many coastal
communities may experience damage to infrastructure, and evacuations
may be needed.
The public should stay away from the coastline for their protection.
Anyone near the the coastline may be swept out to sea and face
significant injury or death.
