.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Friday)
Issued at 1226 PM CST Thu Nov 14 2024

Surface high pressure has moved east, with southerly winds
returning this afternoon. Friday will be similar to today with
morning lows in the mid 30s to lower 40s in the low rolling
plains. South winds of 10 to 20 mph Friday will be gusty in the
afternoon.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Friday night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 1226 PM CST Thu Nov 14 2024

South winds will continue to bring in moisture this weekend, as
a long wave trough develops and moves through the western U.S. By
Sunday evening, an upper low then develops and deepens just west
of El Paso, putting the region into an area of strong lift aloft.
With anomalously high precipitable water values of 1.2 to 1.7
inches, locally heavy rainfall amounts of 1 to 1 1/2 inches are
possible Sunday night. Main concern is localized flash flooding,
particularly for this time of year. A few thunderstorms are also
possible, but severe thunderstorms are not expected.

Rain chances end Monday morning as the upper low moves northeast
of the region. Breezy west winds are expected Monday. A cold front
Tuesday will bring in colder temperatures. A freeze is likely,
particularly Tuesday night and Wednesday nights as colder air
filters into the region. There could be some isolated showers,
possibly mixed with snow in the Southwest Texas Panhandle late
Tuesday night, but confidence is low.
