.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1205 PM CST Fri Dec 19 2025
Through Monday: As surface ridging shifts across the region, we are
experiencing a mostly clear and seasonable day. One more cold night
is in store for tonight with frost and light freeze potential, most
likely the farther east you go in MS closer to that ridge axis.
However, this is the last particularly cold morning we`ll have for
the remainder of this forecast period. Thanks to increasingly zonal
upper level flow, the ridge will begin shifting east of the area
today, with a return to southerly flow tonight into Saturday. This
pattern will provide enough moisture for scattered light showers
between late Saturday night and Monday afternoon as a glancing
shortwave and weak surface front provide modest forcing. Though rain
chances will persist over multiple days, both coverage and intensity
will be limited, and some areas may receive no rain at all. Ridging
will build back in early next week, bringing a return to dry
weather. /DL/
Of interest, the 7-Day forecast now includes the Christmas Eve and
Christmas Day holidays. Average temperatures will be pushing about
15-20 degrees warmer than normal for late December as we move into
the holidays. A white Christmas is not expected, but Santa his
reindeer may enjoy a more tropical experience passing through the
region next week. /NF/
