.SYNOPSIS...21/1103 PM.

A warming trend will begin today and peak on Wednesday, with
highs 5 to 10 degrees above normal. The marine layer will shrink
during this time, with overnight low clouds and fog limited to
coastal areas.

.SHORT TERM (TDY-THU)...22/1204 AM.

Ydy`s upper low will morph into a weak and trof pos tilt trof
today. Hgts will rise a couple dam to 582 dam. Most importantly,
offshore trends will bring weak offshore flow from the north in
the morning and much reduced onshore flow to the east in the
afternoon. The first effect of these gradients (as well as the
lack of lift compared to ydy with the upper low overhead) will be
a dramatic reduction in the amount of morning low clouds. The next
will be a 2 to 4 degrees warm up across the area (3 to 6 degrees
for the Central Coast). Despite this warming most max temps will
end up 3 to 6 degrees under normal.

Wednesday will be the warmest day of the next 7 as a little pop up
ridge arrives overhead. There will be weak offshore flow from
both the east and the north in the morning and only weak onshore
flow in the afternoon. There will be very limited morning low
clouds mostly confined to the SBA county west coast. Total
sunshine, offshore flow in the morning and the ridge will all
combine to warm max temps 8 to 12 degrees. This warming will bring
80s to the csts and 90s to the vlys. These max temps are about 5
degrees above normal for areas south of Pt Conception but are 10
degrees above normal for the Central Coast.

Weak troffing and a return to onshore flow will result in an
increase morning low clouds across the csts as well as a 2 to 4
degree cool down. Max temps, still, will end up 2 to 4 degrees
above normal (4 to 8 across the Central Coast).

.LONG TERM (FRI-MON)...22/248 AM.

On Friday Srn CA will be sandwiched between a decent sized trof
to the north just off the WA coast and a large upper high over
TX. This will result in dry SW flow over the Srn CA. Hgts will be
near 584 dam. This pattern will be fairly stagnant and will last
through Sunday. At the sfc fairly weak onshore flow will persist
except in the mornings where there will be weak offshore flow from
the north. The weather will be pleasant and benign with low
clouds across the some of the csts (esp the western SBA county
cst), but otherwise mostly clear skies.

Most max temps will cool a little Friday and Saturday. The best
cooling will be north of Pt Conception where the trof will have
the greatest effect. Even with this cooling max temps will remain
a few degrees over normal. Blended ensemble guidance still shows
4 to 8 degrees of cooling on Sunday, which now seems a little more
reasonable as now a sharper trof with falling hgts will likely
move into the state. Still the amount of cooling may be overdone
esp over LA county.

Weak ridging and building offshore flow from the north builds in
on Monday. There is a 50-60 percent chc of weak offshore flow from
the east in the morning as well. Look for a mostly sunny day with
some warming esp across the Central Coast.

Distant tropical cyclones to the SSW may send another round of
swells and large surf and dangerous rip currents to south or
southwest facing coasts by late this weekend. There is also a good
chance of some increasing mid to high clouds well ahead of these
systems.

.AVIATION...22/0955Z.

At 0818Z at KLAX, the marine layer was 3500 ft deep. The top of
the inversion was at 4500 feet with a temperature of 15 C.

High confidence in VFR conds for KPMD & KWJF.

Good confidence in TAFs for KSBP and KSMX with VFR transition to
occur with in an hour of fcst time.

Good confidence in TAFs for KSBA with a 15 percent chc of MVFR
cigs 12Z-17Z.

Moderate confidence in TAFs for KOXR and KCMA with a 30 percent
chc of MVFR cigs 11Z-17Z.

Moderate confidence in TAFs for KSMO, KLAX, KLGB, KBUR and KVNY.
Flight cat transition`s may be off by +/- 2 hours and cig hgt by
+/- 500 ft. There is a 20 percent chc of no low clouds.

KLAX...Moderate confidence in TAF. There is a 20% chance for no
low clouds. Low clouds could arrive as late as 13Z. Cigs may be as
low as BKN020. Any east wind component is expected to remain less
than 6kt.

KBUR...Moderate confidence in TAF. VFR conds could arrive anytime
between 15Z and 17Z. There is a 25 percent chc of BKN008 conds
through 16Z.

.MARINE...22/248 AM.

Good confidence in Small Craft Advisory (SCA) west to northwest
winds increasing in the afternoon hours today into early
Wednesday, including across the nearshore Central Coast waters.
Winds are expected to decrease some Wednesday with only a 30-40%
chance for SCAs (highest across the northern-most outer waters),
then SCA northwest winds may return to the outer waters, nearshore
central coast waters, and potentially the Santa Barbara Channel
as early as late Thursday into the weekend.
