Fire Weather Index (FWI)
The FWI is a numeric rating of fire intensity. It combines wind speed, temperature, humidity and rain to estimate potential fire behavior.

Description |
| | 0 – 5 | Very Low | Little to no fire weather concern. Fires unlikely to start or spread. |
| | 6 – 15 | Low | Fire possible under some conditions. Spread limited, easily controlled. |
| | 16 – 22 | Moderate | Fire will spread. Some suppression difficulty under dry or windy conditions. |
| | 23 – 29 | High | Aggressive fire behavior. Difficult suppression. Spotting possible. |
| | 30+ | Very High to Extreme | Dangerous fire conditions. Extreme fire behavior, rapid spread, difficult control. |
