Strong wind warning in effect. Squall watch in effect.

Wind northwest 10 knots with gusts to 35 near thunderstorms. Wind becoming north 20 after midnight then diminishing to east 15 late overnight. Wind backing to north 15 early Thursday afternoon.

A few showers with a risk of thunderstorms.

Issued 10:06 PM CDT 18 July 2018 Squalls with wind gusts up to 35 knots, frequent lightning, hail of 1 to 2 centimetres and poor to very poor visibility in thunderstorms heavy at times are expected or occurring in the area.

A line of severe thunderstorms is approaching the north basin from the Grand Rapids area.

Mariners are advised to prepare for squalls. If underway, seek safe harbour immediately. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

Issued 7:37 PM CDT 18 July 2018 Conditions are favourable for the development of squalls with wind gusts up to 35 knots, frequent lightning and hail.

Thunderstorms are forecast to develop today over portions of central Manitoba as a low pressure system tracks into the area. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe this evening and overnight.

Large hail can damage vessels and cause injury. Vessels without lightning protection should make their way to shore immediately. Mariners are advised to prepare for potential squalls. Vulnerable vessels are most at risk and should seek safe harbour if underway. Consider delaying or postponing travel in areas under the Squall Watch.
