At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight ridge located over the St. Lawrence River.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 9:36 AM AST 2 February 2026 A low pressure system just east of Banquereau will continue to track northeastward to lie over the Northern Grand Banks this evening. Strong to gale force north to northwesterly winds in the wake of the low will gradually diminish today and tonight as the low pulls further away from the marine district.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for southwestern shore, LaHave Bank, West Scotian Slope, eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan, Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait - eastern half, Gulf-Magdalen and Anticosti - eastern half.
Freezing spray warnings are in effect for Gulf-Magdalen and Anticosti.
A yellow coastal flooding warning is also in effect for the Newfoundland coastline along cape ray - Channel-Port aux Basques for this morning's high tide.
