District.
By 3:30 p.m. ADT today departing ridge located over the Grand Banks.
At 10:00 a.m. ADT today trough located over New England.
By 3:00 a.m. ADT Monday trough located from Anticosti Island to
Georges Bank.
At 3:30 p.m. ADT Monday trough located from Newfoundland to East
Scotian Slope.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:50 AM ADT 5 April 2026 A trough of low pressure will approach from the west this morning and
slowly track across the district today and tonight to lie over
southeastern waters by Monday afternoon. Winds will increase to
strong to gale force southerlies ahead of the trough, then veer to
strong to possibly gale force west or northwest winds in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan, Cabot
Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, and Anticosti.
Outlook for the start-up of the eastern shore lobster fishery.
Wednesday..Winds northeast 20 knots diminishing to west 15 knots late
in the day. Sea state 1-2 metres diminishing to 1 metre or less in
the afternoon.
Thursday..Light winds becoming southwest 15 to 20
Knots in the afternoon. Sea state 1 metre or less.
