* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning Today: Heavy snow for Mono
County above 7000 feet. Snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches with
isolated amounts up to 2 feet. Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with
gusts up to 65 mph. Ridge wind gusts will reach up to 125 mph. For
the Winter Storm Watch Sunday-Tuesday: Heavy snow with 4 to 8
inches below 7000 feet. 1 to 3 feet possible above 7000 feet.

* WHERE...Mono County.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 4 PM this afternoon to
10 PM PST Saturday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from late Sunday
night through Tuesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening and Monday
morning commutes. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage
to trees and power lines.

Alert Details:
* WHAT...Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Ridge
wind gusts will reach up to 125 mph.

* WHERE...Mono County.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM PST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The High Wind Warning ends at 4pm when the
Winter Storm Warning begins. Strong winds are expected to continue
overnight.

Now is the time to secure loose outdoor items such as patio
furniture, holiday decorations, and trash cans before winds increase
which could blow these items away. The best thing to do is prepare
ahead of time by making sure you have extra food and water on hand,
flashlights with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a
power outage.

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag
Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect
until 7 PM PST this evening.

* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zone 274 Southern Mono County,
Fire Weather Zone 421 Southern Sierra Front including Alpine,
Northern Mono, Southern Lyon, and Western Mineral Counties and
Fire Weather Zone 429 Lahontan Basin including Churchill and
Eastern Mineral Counties.

* Winds...South to southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to
65 mph. Wind prone areas may reach gusts of 80 mph.

* Humidity...As low as 12 to 18 percent.

* Duration...3 to 9 hours of critical conditions.

* Impacts...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can
cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first
responders can contain them.
