.LONG TERM...Christmas Day through next Monday
Rain and snow showers expected to continue on Wednesday as a
fast-moving trough moves through the area. Minor impacts on
untreated roadways possible. Lows in the 20s and highs in the
upper 30s are expected. Things will briefly dry out Wednesday
afternoon and Thursday morning after the trough exits and a ridge
moves in, though cold air on the back side of the exiting trough
will keep morning lows on Thursday in the 20s. A low pressure
system moving onshore will bring additional precipitation to
northern Nevada on Thursday afternoon, and will keep afternoon
highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s on both Thursday and Friday. A
trace to 0.5 inches of snow in the valleys, up to 1 inch on
higher elevation roadways and mountain passes, and up to 3 inches
in the mountains are possible. Minor impacts to roadways expected,
especially through mountain passes.

High pressure will start to build again on Saturday morning and
will last through the weekend into the beginning of next week. A
low chance of precipitation in northern nevada is forecast as
moisture moves around the edge of the high, but the rest of the
state will be dry. Highs will warm to the upper 40s and lower 50s,
and lows will be in the 30s.

.AVIATION...
Look for VFR conditions to continue through the majority of the
next 24 hours. ISOLD -SHRA, possibly mixed with -SHSN, will
continue across portions of northeast Nevada as a weak upper level
system pushes across and east of the forecast area. As a result,
MVFR conditions due to restrictions to CIGS are possible over the
KEKO terminal this morning, with a 40% probability of seeing CIG
heights of 3K ft or less through 18Z. Otherwise, upper level
ridging is expected to build into the area, leading to gradual
clearing. Winds will remain light through the period with speeds
less than 10KT.
