Hotter by Thursday. - Risk of thunderstorms each afternoon/evening Sunday through Tuesday in the Idaho-Montana border region. && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/... Issued at 200 AM MDT Sun Jun 15 2025 Continued warm weather is expected today into Monday with southwest flow over the area. A weak shortwave trough will pass to our north today, this may trigger a shower or thunderstorm across the Lemhi region and along the Montana border. But we shouldn`t see anything further south, just some high clouds drifting through the area. Chances for storms is a little better Monday afternoon as a deeper shortwave trough approaches the region. However, the area is still mainly limited to the central mountains and along the Montana border with a cell or two possible across the southern highlands. && .LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... Issued at 200 AM MDT Sun Jun 15 2025 A weak shortwave passes through Idaho on Tuesday and at the moment, any precipitation associated with it looks to remain in the northern portion of our CWA in parts of the Central Mountains and the Eastern Highlands up near the Island Park area. Highs on Tuesday will be in the low to mid 80s in the eastern Magic Valley and lower Snake River Plain with slightly cooler temperatures in the 70s in the upper Snake River Plain and Eastern Highlands. By mid week, weak ridging builds in over Eastern Idaho and we begin to really warm things up. Highs on Wednesday will be about 5 degrees warmer than Tuesday, meaning more of us will be back into the 80s and some of us will start to push closer to 90 degrees. Thursday looks to be the hottest day of the week with highs reaching the low to mid 90s for the eastern Magic Valley and Snake River Plain and parts of the South Hills. The rest of the mid elevations will reach the mid 80s. Look for wind gusts each afternoon to range from 25 to 35 mph Tuesday through Thursday. It`ll be windy on Friday as our next system begins to move into the area with gusts pushing closer to 40 mph in parts of the upper Snake River Plain and Central Mountains. This looks to be a stronger system arriving for the weekend with highs dropping some 20 degrees from Thursday highs to Saturday highs. This could bring a decent precipitation chance along with the cooler temperatures, but it`s still almost a week out, so we will continue to monitor forecast trends. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z MONDAY/...
