Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED
National Weather Service Peachtree City GA
632 AM EDT Mon Jun 2 2025

...New 12Z Aviation Discussion...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Tuesday)
Issued at 155 AM EDT Mon Jun 2 2025

Key Messages:

 - Dry with a hazy sky today and tomorrow (Tuesday) due to
   wildfire smoke aloft from Canada.

 - Temperatures will be near-normal for early June.

Dry conditions will continue through the short term period. A
mid-/upper-level ridge will build across the eastern portion of
the CONUS with height rises and increasing pressure. Large-scale
subsidence will make for sunny days and clear nights with just a
smattering of fair weather cumulus. Low temperatures will be in
the upper 50s to mid-60s this morning and tomorrow morning. High
temperatures both days will be in the mid-80s to lower 90s. These
temps are within a few degrees of normal for this time of year.

HRRR Vertically Integrated Smoke keeps wildfire smoke from Canada
suspended in the upper levels of the atmosphere over the state
today and tomorrow. The smoke -- while perhaps becoming more
dispersed/less widespread in coverage -- will likely remain
entrained in the upper-level flow, in the absence of any dramatic
changes in the pattern.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday night through Sunday)
Issued at 155 AM EDT Mon Jun 2 2025

Key Messages

    - Isolated rain chances return as early as Wednesday into
      Thursday.

    - More widespread diurnally-enhanced showers and thunderstorms
      are expected by the weekend.

Dry weather at the onset of the long-term period will begin
trending wetter by mid to late week. Surface high pressure will
migrate into the west Atlantic by Wednesday. Meanwhile, an upper
inverted trough/cutoff low over Florida will begin to gradually
migrate northward by Wednesday into Thursday. This will initially
bring some diurnal isolated shower and thunderstorm chances as
early as Wednesday in southern counties with chances for isolated
to scattered convection spreading farther north by Thursday.

Rain chances look to begin to increase more markedly by Friday
into the weekend as a midlevel trough pushes a cold front towards
the Southeast. PoPs will thus be highest across north Georgia
initially, but diurnally-enhanced rain chances will increase
across the area through the weekend as the front drapes into the
region.

Daytime highs will largely stay near to slightly above normal,
ranging from the mid 80s to low 90s. Lows will creep upward from
the low-to-mid 60s initially toward the low 70s by the weekend.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 622 AM EDT Mon Jun 2 2025

VFR conditions will persist through the period. Like yesterday,
FEW/SCT Cu ~5 kft will develop around 16z-17z. Wildfire smoke from
Canada remains entrained aloft, so while the sky will appear
hazy, surface visibility reductions are not expected. Winds will
be light (~5 kts at most) out of the NW today. Winds are forecast
to become light/VRB this evening, then pivot to the east overnight
into tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

//ATL Confidence...12Z Update...
High confidence on all elements.
