.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Thursday)
Issued at 314 AM EDT Wed Jun 11 2025

Key Messages:

 - Isolated showers and thunderstorms across central Georgia this
afternoon and evening, drier over north Georgia.

 - Increasing moisture on Thursday with scattered to widespread
showers and thunderstorms across north and central Georgia.

A frontal boundary is slowly pushing across the ATL metro early
this morning, with areas of fog and mostly clear skies along and
north of the boundary, and a few showers and thunderstorms to the
south across central Georgia. This boundary will push a little bit
further south into central GA by later on this morning, and act
as a barrier for afternoon convection. Current thinking is that it
will stall just north of a line from Columbus to Macon, with
isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening to
the south of the boundary. A few storms could be strong with gusty
winds, small hail, and frequent lightning, but severe weather is
not anticipated.

Thursday will be the start of a transition to a period of wetter
weather that will last through at least the upcoming weekend. This
shift will be driven by the combination of a closed upper level
low lifting across the ArkLaTex region and a ridge centered off
the east coast of Florida. Low to mid level flow across Georgia
will turn out of the south-southwest in response, bringing
plentiful moisture (PW values rising from 1"-1.5" to around
1.5"2") into the region. Add in some daytime heating (1000-1500
J/kg MUCAPE) and scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms
will develop across north and central GA, especially during the
afternoon and evening. We could see a strong storm or two with
gusty winds, but severe weather is not anticipated due to weak
wind shear.

High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s each day, with
tonight`s lows falling to the mid to upper 60s in north GA, and
upper 60s to low 70s in central GA.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday night through Tuesday)
Issued at 314 AM EDT Wed Jun 11 2025

Key Messages:

  - Enhanced moisture will continue across the region under the
    influence of southerly flow.

  - Diurnally driven rain chances expected through the extended
    period.

By Thu night the Bermuda like surface ridge centered over the
western Atlantic will have weakened a bit and pulled away slightly
from the SC/GA/FL coast. With the this ridge weakening, very good
gulf moisture streams around the ridge putting GA in good moist
southerly flow. This ridge stays fairly stationary through the
weekend keeping GA in a very wet pattern. By Mon, the ridge slides
a bit further south allowing the over all flow to become a bit
more westerly. This will let shortwaves over the Mid MS river
valley to move in across the area Mon and Tues. As such, an active
weather pattern is forecast to persist into next week, with PoPs
around 65- 85%. PWs stay in the 1.5" to 2.5" range through the
extended periods. Instability indices will also be diurnally
driven with capes getting up into the 500-1500J/Kg range everyday.

Daytime highs will be mainly in the 80s each day with night time
lows in the 60s to near 70.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 637 AM EDT Wed Jun 11 2025

VFR conditions prevail aside from some patchy fog bringing MVFR
VIS to a few of the sites which will clear by 14Z. Can`t rule out
a SHRA/TSRA near ATL today, but the better chances for SHRA/TSRA
will be at CSG/MCN from 20-02Z. Winds generally light and variable
through this morning, turning primarily out of the W/NW at 7kts
or less during the day. MVFR or lower CIGs may develop after 08z
Thursday morning.

//ATL Confidence...12Z Update...
Medium confidence in this mornings CIG/VIS restrictions. High
confidence all other elements.
