.DISCUSSION...

* Warm late spring-like conditions will continue into Friday.
Temperatures will be around 15-20 degrees above average for mid-
April. Although very warm, the chance of seeing any record highs
remains low. Since we`re experiencing the first major warmup of
the year, minor heat risks are possible for those sensitive to
heat. We`ll see the return of the zephyr-like breezes this
  afternoon and again for Friday.

* Model ensembles still agree on a trough passing through the
region late Friday into Saturday. This will first lead to gusty
winds, especially along the ridges in the Sierra as well as into
the inner basin and ranges. It will be breezy enough to be aware
of choppy waters and possible adverse boating conditions for
Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake on Saturday. This quick moving
short-wave will be mostly dry for the majority of the area, with
just a 15-25% chance for showers in northwest Lassen County and
far northern Washoe County. Finally, temperatures will decrease
in temperatures on Saturday and Sunday. But, readings will still
be upwards of 5 degrees above average.

* Large scale ridge returns next week. This will allow for
temperatures to once again increase well above average with
overall light winds. There are a few ensembles that want to
introduce a cutoff low over southern California by Monday into
Tuesday, which may introduce light showers for the Sierra. There
is low confidence in this feature. Otherwise, we are mostly dry
  the next 7 days. -McKellar

.AVIATION...

* Afternoon westerly breezes this afternoon with gusts up to 20 kt
across all terminals. Wind gusts increase to around 25-30 kt
Friday and Saturday due to a weak weather system passing through
the area. This system may also introduce mountain wave turbulence
and LLWS late Friday into early Saturday.

* Well above normal high temperatures today and Friday for W NV
valleys, bringing abnormally high density altitudes for early
  April. -McKellar
