Not much change in high temperatures is expected through Friday, then warming for the weekend to around 5 to 10 degrees above average for inland areas on Sunday. Cooling for early next week to around average on Tuesday, then warming to around 5 degrees above average for inland areas on Wednesday. Night and morning coastal low clouds will continue to spread into portions of the valleys. && .DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... .Morning Update... Low clouds have filled in much of the coastal basin this morning with thinning high clouds over the region. We`ll be taking yesterday and pasting it into today as clouds retreat back toward the coast with filtered sun closer to the beaches. HREF cloud cover forecasts continue to indicate a similar cloud pattern to yesterday, with best chances for San Diego beaches to stay under the clouds much of the day. The forecast remains on track for Sunday to be the hottest day overall with locally high heat risk across the lower deserts with moderate to high chances of daytime temperatures rising over 110 degrees. .Previous Discussion (309 AM Thursday)... .SHORT TERM (Today through Saturday)... The marine layer remains around 2000 feet deep. However cloud bases are lower with the depth of the saturated cloud layer a little deeper than 24 hours ago. Not much change in high temperatures is expected through Friday with high temperatures around average for the coast and valleys and around 5 degrees above average for the deserts. High temperatures through Friday will range from around 70 near the coast to the 80s and lower 90s for the Inland Empire with 104 to 108 for the lower deserts. High pressure to the south will bring warming of a few to around 5 degrees for Saturday. && .LONG TERM (Sunday through Wednesday)... High pressure to the south will continue the warming through Sunday with Sunday high temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above average. High temperatures on Sunday will range from the lower 70s near the coast to the upper 80s to upper 90s for the Inland Empire with 110 to 114 for the lower deserts. Stronger onshore flow and slight weakening of high pressure aloft will spread cooling inland on Monday and Tuesday with Tuesday high temperatures around average to a few degrees below average. High temperatures on Tuesday will range from around 70 near the coast to the 80s to around 90 for the Inland Empire with 104 to 108 for the lower deserts. Then warming on Wednesday to around 5 degrees above average for the mountains, deserts, and inland valleys. A marine layer near 1500 to 2000 feet deep on Sunday may deepen to around 2000 to 2500 feet on Tuesday with night and morning coastal low clouds spreading farther into the valleys. && .AVIATION... 121530Z....Coast/Valleys...Low clouds based around 900-1500 feet MSL with tops to around 2200 feet are eroding out of inland areas, and will continue to scatter out through 17Z. Low clouds will begin to move inland again after 01Z then into valleys early Friday, but not as extensively as this morning.
