Dry weather will prevail through the upcoming weekend. 2. Wind Advisory for the Mojave Slopes through 1100 PM PDT Tuesday. 3. Temperatures will remain a few degrees above normal through Tuesday then rise to well above normal Wednesday through Friday. && .DISCUSSION...An upper ridge extends from southern California northeast over the Rockies this morning as an upper trough pushes inland over the Pacific Northwest. Precipitation extends down to northern California with dry conditions continuing across the central California interior. The main impact from the trough will be increasing winds across the Mojave Slopes this afternoon. The probabilities for a maximum wind gust greater than 45 mph are 65% in Mojave today and 60% on Tuesday. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Mojave Slopes from 2 PM this afternoon through 11 PM Tuesday. An upper ridge will build over the west coast on Wednesday then amplify through Friday as it gradually shifts eastward over the Rockies. Temperatures are forecast to be around 4 to 8 degrees above climatological averages today then lower to around 2 to 5 degrees above average on Tuesday. The ridge brings much warmer conditions the rest of the week with Thursday expected to be the warmest. Highs are forecast to be around 10 to 15 degrees above average on Thursday with Wednesday and Friday being around 8 to 12 degrees above average. The probabilities for a high greater than 82 degrees in the San Joaquin Valley on Wednesday generally range from 45 to 70 percent. The probability for a high greater than 87 degrees Thursday generally ranges from 45 to 75 percent. Model ensembles favor an eastern Pacific upper trough splitting as it reaches the coast this weekend. The northern energy moves over the Pacific Northwest as the southern energy forms a closed upper low off the central/southern California coast. Dry weather is forecast to continue at this time with temperatures lowering to slightly above average.
