010 FXUS65 KVEF 130528 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 1028 PM PDT Thu Jun 12 2025 .SYNOPSIS...Hot, dry, and breezy conditions persist through the forecast period. Temperatures remain above normal with only subtle day-to-day variations. An uptick in winds is likely early next week as a weak system moves through, bringing increased fire danger to the area. && .UPDATE...Another hot, dry, and breezy evening, which is in line with expectations. No update planned. && .DISCUSSION...through Wednesday. We remain in this southwesterly flow regime for the next several days as a trough sits off the PacNW coast and a broad ridge lingers over the central US. This will keep breezy winds and above-normal temperatures around. Chances for wind impacts are less than 30% across the area, but they are going to increase fire danger. Where fuels are ready, new fire starts may spread rapidly. Where fuels are not ready, notable drying and curing is anticipated. With no precipitation potential in sight, fire danger is only expected to increase over the next week or two. Over the weekend, the central US ridge becomes more amplified, leading to rising heights and temperatures in our area. The peak of the heat looks to be on Sunday when highs are forecast to be 6-10 degrees above normal. This may push the lowest valleys into major HeatRisk, so we`ll have to monitor trends as we assess the need for any heat headlines. Some subtle relief is set to arrive early next week as a shortwave moves through. Forecast highs drop 3-5 degrees during this time. However, this will likely be accompanied by an increase in winds and fire danger. Strongest winds expected across the western Mojave Desert where there is a ~50% chance of wind impacts. This system is a progressive one, meaning heights and temperatures will quickly resume their increasing trend mid-week. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Similar wind patterns to what has happened the past few days is expected tonight through Friday night.
