If planning to spend time outdoors this weekend, avoid the hottest parts of the day, bring plenty of water, and wear sunscreen. Meanwhile, a dry southwesterly flow aloft continues as the region remains sandwiched between a closed area of low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska and the aforementioned ridge of high pressure. As such, expect breezy southwest winds each afternoon through the weekend. This will result in increased fire concerns across the forecast area, so be aware of this if recreating outside with sparks or flames. .LONG TERM...Monday through Saturday. The ridge is suppressed early next week as an upper level trough moves through the western United States. The strongest winds should be in western San Bernardino County, where there the probability of wind gusts over 40 mph (Wind Advisory criteria) is over 60 percent. Will continue to monitor to see if wind headlines become necessary, but for now it appears that the strongest winds will remain over high terrain. However, widespread dry and breezy conditions does bring increased fire weather concerns across the forecast area. Temperatures should decrease a few degrees by Tuesday as heights aloft fall. Ridging quickly rebuilds as the trough moves east. Temperatures increase a few degrees and dry conditions persist.
