...Heavy Snow this afternoon through Wednesday morning...
.A strong and cold storm system will move across the region
this afternoon through Wednesday morning, bringing significant
snow for elevations above 1000 to 2500 feet feet. The heaviest
snow is expected to fall this evening with a second round
Wednesday morning. Snow levels will initially be around 500 to
1000 feet this afternoon with most areas rising quickly. This
exception will be northern Trinity county where snow levels will
stay near valley floors. Confidence is still low on the exact snow
levels.
...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS
AFTERNOON TO NOON PST WEDNESDAY ABOVE 2000 FEET...
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 2000 feet. Total snow
accumulations of up to 10 to 20 inches. Winds gusting as high
as 50 mph.
* WHERE...Northeastern Mendocino Interior, Northwestern Mendocino
Interior, Southwestern Humboldt, Southern Humboldt Interior and
Northern Lake County Counties. This may impact Highway 101 near
Laytonville.
* WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to noon PST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
* Additional Details...Up to 2 inches of snow is expected to
impact Highway 101 near Laytonville before snow levels rise in
the evening. Instructions:
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
